The U.S. Department of State issues passports and routine service is 8 to 11 weeks. Expedited service can take 5 to 7 weeks. If you already have a passport, check the expiration date. Some countries require passports to be valid for six months beyond the date you will exit the United States. Your destination also might require a travel visa.
